I minored in Pottery in college and I fell in love. There is something so satisfying about forming things with clay. Recently I got back into it and currently love sculpting angels, vessels, and other forms that call to me.
Angels are spiritual, benevolent beings that are said to be attendants of God. In sculpting Angels, I ask each one their name. I hear, I am the Angel of Joy or I am the Angel of Gratitude… they have many names and I am often surprised by what they say to me. I trust that someone needs this particular Angel in their lives. Perhaps that is you. It never hurts to say a prayer and talk directly to the Angel. You too may be surprised by what they say and offer.
To me, crafting a vessel is about manifesting beauty in tangible form. I delight in exploring the interplay of color, texture, and shape, allowing each piece to emerge as a one-of-a-kind creation. Whether I’m layering clay, experimenting with textures, shaping the form, or applying glazes, each technique offers its own avenue for artistic expression. At times, I incorporate mixed media elements such as semi-precious stones, weaving them into the vessel’s design like a cascade of water. Sculpting vessels not only brings aesthetic appeal but also serves practical purposes, whether it’s holding flowers, food, or drinks, serving as a decorative accent, or fulfilling a spiritual function like a blessing bowl. Sharing these vessels with others brings me immense joy and fulfillment.
